Dear Household Customer,
Important Update Re Landfill Levy and New Waste Recovery Lavy
We trust this letter finds you well. We are writing to inform you about recent developments that will impact waste management regulations and our billing processes.
In accordance with the revisions to the Waste Management Act 1996, we would to bring to your attention the following changes that have been signed into legislation and will affect the cost of waste management from September 01, 2023:
- Introduction of Waste Recovery Levy: The government has introduced a new waste recovery levy of €10 per ton on waste recovery activities, or the export of waste for recovery. This initiative aligns with the government’s commitment to promoting sustainable waste management practices and encouraging the recovery and recycling of materials.
- Increase in Landfill Levy: Additionally, there will be an increase of €10 per ton on the existing landfill/incineration levy. This adjustment is aimed at discouraging landfilling and encouraging the use of more environmentally friendly waste management alternatives.
We understand that these changes may raise concerns about potential cost implications for our valued customers, Allied Recycling have made the decision to absorb this additional cost
for the remainder of the current billing period. Our primary goal is to provide you with the
best possible waste management solutions while minimising the impact of these changes.
Whilst we are currently absorbing the cost, we will be closely monitoring the effects of the new and increased levies and assess how it influences waste management practices. We believe that this presents an opportunity for all of us to reevaluate and improve our
composting and recycling habits. By working together, we can enhance our contribution to a
healthier environment and a more sustainable future.
We encourage you to reach out to us if you have any questions or concerns related to these
changes or your waste management practices. Our team is here to assist you and provide
guidance on how to make the most of this situation.
Thank you for being a responsible member of the Allied Recycling community. Your
dedication to environmentally conscious practices is truly appreciated, and together, we can
create a positive impact on our planet.
Yours Sincerely
Managing Director
